In Memory of Bubba... beloved member of the Buckner family.

Shiann Buckner & Bubba
“BUBBA” Peppy SansBorn on February 18, 1988
Killed on December 11, 2012
Memorial by Sonya Buckner
My mother found Bubba in March of 1994 at the NCHA Area work offs in Jackson, Mississippi. She was actually looking at him for a friend of ours but when I saw him I had to have him. It took my mom 4 years to get papers on him because the gentleman we bought him from did not even own him. He was my first competitive horse (hauling up and down the road). In his prime I was offered lots of money, trucks, and a corvette for him but I would never let him go. He actually taught me how to read a cow. He was not that fast so I had to learn how to work angles with him instead of using speed to out run the cattle. Read More about Bubba here.

"When Shiann was around 2 years old he would back up to the front of the stall with his butt and let her comb his tail with her sand shovel. They would do this for twenty or thirty minutes at a time."

"Somewhere...somewhere in time's own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again."
